Mission Statement:
Our mission at East End Academy is to provide an effective and comprehensive education program, to develop the skills and behaviors of special education and at-risk students enabling them to return to the home school.
Founded in 1996, East End Inc., operates in the city of Newport News and Norfolk, Virginia. Our schools and programs are licensed by the Virginia State Department of Education and/or The Department of Intellectual Disability and Substance Abuse Services and are Medicaid Accredited. The Staff at the Academy consist of highly trained professionals dedicated to the success of our students’ educational goals. We have a mix of educators, clinical workers and support staff to enable us to effectively run our programs and to provide each family with the best care. At East End Inc., we stand ready to partner with school districts in providing educational and mental health services to children and youth with special needs. Vision from Our Founder
Our founder, Ms. Ruby Eley, has a vision for providing quality services for special needs and at-risk children and adolescents. Her commitment to the academic, social and cultural development of this population has resulted in an array of services being offered at East End Academy. Ms. Eley brings over 18 years of experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders. She began her career in the Newport News Public Schools as a teacher working with Severely Emotional Disabled students. She also served as the Director of two local private Day School Programs prior to opening East End Academy. Ms. Eley and her staff of educational and clinical professionals look forward to assisting you with special needs and at-risk youth.
